Southeastern Folk Artist Irene Tison On Exhibit Fort Mill SC
Well Known Southeastern Folk Artist on Exhibit Fort Mill, SC
Fort Mill, SC – 6/1/10 – BacInTyme Coffee Cafe is honored and pleased to announce its’ newest artist – Irene Tison. We met Irene during one of her exhibitions at the Back Street Gallery in Lancaster, owned by Cherry and Bob Doster.
Irene grew up in the Low Country area of South Carolina to sharecropper parents. She began to paint at the young age of six. Irene would sit at her mother’s feet when her mom came home from a long, hard day of picking cotton. Her mother would relax by setting pen to paper and sketch the world she saw around her.
With her mother’s inspiration, Irene paints the Gullah people and their daily life of taking next to nothing, and making something out of it. Her paintings come alive as she piants her childhood memories onto canvas.
Irene Tison’s art will be on display and for sale at BacInTyme through August 1, 2010.
